Welcome to Skilpadvlei Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands! The farm derives its charming name from the legendary colony of tortoises that was found in the vlei in the 1800’s. The beautiful piece of land was dubbed Skilpadvlei and has been in the hands of the Joubert family since 1917.

Skilpadvlei Wine Farm Accommodation

Bed & Breakfast Rooms - Our 11 bed & breakfast rooms all boast names of different types of wines.

Self-catering Cottages - We have 7 self-catering guest cottages, named after different tortoises.

• Three open plan bachelor cottages with a fully equipped kitchenette, living room area and en-suite bathroom with a shower.
• Three cottages with 2 bedrooms, 2 en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and living room with additional twin beds.
• One three bedroom cottage with 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), a fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room.

All cottages are self-catering with barbeque facilities, its own private patio and a communal swimming pool. TV channels include SABC 1, 2 & 3, e-tv and limited DSTV channels.

The surrounding vineyards and landscape is the natural habitat of various bird species whilst the dam offers black bass and trout fishing. Take a hike through the vineyards and enjoy the panoramic views the farm offers.

Skilpadvlei Restaurant

Nestled between the vineyards, Skilpadvlei Restaurant is renowned for its relaxed atmosphere and breath-taking views of the Stellenbosch Hills and surrounding mountains. The restaurant offers an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our specialities are traditional South African favourites such as chicken pie, tripe and bobotie.

For contemporary classics try our steaks, delicious sandwiches, woodfire pizzas and our famous Skilpadvlei burger. Still have some room left? Round your meal off with something sweet from our popular desert menu.

Trading hours:  Monday – Saturday: 07:00 – 21:00 / Sunday: 07:00 – 17:00

Skilpadvlei Winelands Weddings

Our charming ML Joubert Hall with its beautiful surrounding garden and picturesque views can accommodate between 40 and 180 guests. Take some time to soak up the view and then feast on a Traditional South African Buffet. Round the night off with that special someone on the dance floor.

Best of all, there is NO VENUE FEE. A rarity in this day and age! And if load shedding strikes, we have a generator so the fun doesn’t have to stop when the lights go out.

Skilpadvlei Conferencing

The ML Joubert Hall accommodates larger parties whilst the Skilpaddop Room offers a more intimate setting for smaller groups. Both venues are air-conditioned and conveniently equipped with a projector, white screen and flip chart. Catering options are available to suit your individual needs.
