Franschhoek not only offers some of the world's finest wining and dining, but also superb accommodation.
The character of Franschhoek is reflected in the hospitality of the friendly people who live here, and the scenic vineyards, spectacular views and awe-inspiring mountain landscape have long since enchanted the hearts of tourists and locals alike.
Franschhoek has a collection of world-class, restuarants, art galleries and craft shops.
The spectacular mountains surrounding Franschhoek provide the perfect setting for numerous walking trails for the more energetic visitors. The La Motte Forestry Station offers hiking, horse riding, fly-fishing and cycling. Trout fishing is possible in various streams and dams surrounding the village. Experience a wine tour with a difference - on horseback or in a carriage. Local tour guides are available to advise and help you to explore all that the region has to offer.
If you visit Franschhoek in the winter, remember the 14th of July. This is Bastille Day, when the village celebrates its French heritage with a wine and gourmet fair that attracts visitors from near and far.

Location:
Situated 45 mintutes from Cape Town.
Breathtaking views of the Drakenstein mountains will greet you as you enter the gates of La Ferme. Slowly take a look around and watch as a young black springbok grazes next to one of the dams. This is one of many unique sights that will entertain you when you visit La Ferme.
The tranquil Wemmerhoek river runs through the farm and is fabulous for fishing or even swimming in Summer. A tour of the farm on horse back will give a different perspective as they splash through the river. Perfectly situated between Franschhoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch wine routes. Tantilize your taste buds in Franschhoek renowned for it's culinary delights. There is fun to be had by everyone. Truly a unique and fabulous experience!
On the La Ferme estate the horses roam freely and will often come to greet you. If you are lucky enough to stay in one of the La Ferme guest cottages,the exotic birdlife will deliver your wake up call. We invite you to visit this wonderful place to view the varied birdlife especially the Egyptian geese.
Accommodation:
There are three self catering guest cottages that have been tastefully decorated. All of the cottages are air conditioned, have satellite television, fridge/freezers, microwaves, stoves but no ovens. All towels and bed linen are supplied. Your decks are equipped with outside tables, chairs and braai facilities. Try the art of fly fishing or take an invigorating walk amongst the vineyards and dams.
Activities:
A variety of adrenaline pumping activitieseing / river adventures, gliding, kloofing and mountain biking, are available. The region also boasts some of South Africa´s most rugged and challenging 4x4 trails.
For those with a more laid back time in mind, what better way to unwind than to enjoy a leisurely hike along one of the various hiking trails and gain first hand experience of the wealth of indigenous fauna and flora (fynbos & succulents) the Cape Winelands is world renowned for. Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with over ten top golf courses to choose from, some of which designed by golfing legends such as Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus.
Freshwater fishing:
Whether you are experienced or not try your hand at this relaxing sport. We offer fishing lessons,hiring of fishing rods and tackle. Trained staff are on the property to assist you. There are variety of fish to catch on fly only, brown and rainbow trout, mozambique Tilapia, white fish, grass carp and some bass.
Mountain biking:
Bring your own bikes, we don't keep any on the premises. What we do offer is very exciting terrain to explore on the farm or on the neighbouring nature reserve.
4 x 4 / Off-road:
A day trip can be arranged for a full day of adventure in the nature reserve. This must be pre-booked.
Biking:
Off road scramblers are available for hire on the premises or bring your own and explore.
Hiking / walking:
Just bring your walking shoes! Unlimited territory for your pleasure. There are nine hiking trails in the reserve and seven in the Franschhoek surrounds.
Golf:
Not on the premises but literally five minutes away you can visit the well known Pearl Valley Golf Estate and a little further is the Boschenmeer Golf Estate. Both of these golf courses are 18 hole.
Horse Riding:
We have two horses available for hire. They can be riden on La Ferme or in the reserve. Intermeditate to experienced riders only.
